Join us for our official launch event, featuring discussions on the Future of Asia-Europe relations from a panel of high-level guest speakers, a chance to hear from our Co-Presidents on the importance of Asia-Europe Cooperation and our vision for STEAR, and the opportunity to meet our board.As we open our Calls for Recruitment to join STEAR, this is a great chance for you to learn a bit more about us ahead of applications and interviews, as well as hear from some leading guest speakers in the Asia-Europe space.

Speakers: 

Nicolas Chapuis

Nicolas Chapuis is the current European Union Ambassador to China, having previously served in a variety of senior diplomatic positions in Mongolia and Singapore, amongst other places. Whether as a desk officer for the Asia-Pacific Directorate at the French Foreign Ministry early in his career, or in the last three years in his ambassadorial work for the European Union, his career has consistently been oriented towards Europe-Asia Relations. Mr Chapuis will be speaking on the future of the China-EU Relationship.

Toru Morikawa

Toru Morikawa is the 8th Executive Director of the Asia-Europe Foundation, and a seasoned Japanese Career Diplomat. His previous postings include serving as the Deputy Head of Mission at the Japanese Embassy in Iran and Minister-Counsellor at the Japanese Embassy in France, where he was in charge of various cultural exchange initiatives. He has also worked in the areas of Media and Regional Economic Cooperation and has experience in cultivating and enhancing partnerships for projects with different organisations including the private sector.
