Call for Founding Board Members 2021

Would you like to make a real impact on the discussions shaping the future of Europe and Asia? Are you keen to work with a diverse international team as part of a multinational thinktank? Do you have experience working in a thinktank, or are you looking to gain policy experience?
The Student Think Tank for Europe-Asia Relations (STEAR) aims to promote the values and interests of European and Asian Youth, strengthen ties and deepen relationships between the two continents. The two continents together are home to more than two billion people, including fourteen of the world’s twenty largest economies, and yet cooperation between European and Asian countries is consistently dogged by a lack of understanding and hostile political relations.
STEAR is seeking seven founding Board Members to join the Executive Board for 2021-2. The Board Membership is voluntary and remote.

Eligibility: All young people (18 to 30 years old) with a strong command of English are welcome to apply. We are looking for board members who are creative and dedicated, who can take the initiative and shape the direction of a fledgling thinktank.
A year in STEAR will offer you:

Call for 1 Vice President for Internal Affairs (VPIA)
Duties and responsibilities of VPIA include:
Supervise internal communication of all portfolios
Take charge of internal training
Prepare meeting agenda and keep a record of general and executive meeting minutes
Promote a culture of high performance, respect for diversity, and people-centered development.
Length of Appointment: 1 year
Commitment: 7 - 10 hours per week (approximately)
Qualifications:
Strategic thinking appropriate for the role
Excellent English proficiency
Proven track record of leadership experience
Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to Asia-Europe affairs
An ability to lead and work in a multicultural environment
Excellent influencing, persuasion, and negotiating skills.
Good planning and organizational skills
Experience in Training others is preferred

Call for 1 Vice President for External Affairs (VPEA)
Duties and responsibilities (VPEA)
Raise the profile of STEAR across Asia and Europe through partnerships, events and media, and public outreach
Strengthen and deepen the connections to key audiences, including youth, policy-makers, civil society organizations, and relevant stakeholders
Coordinate and supervise all activities and programs, including regular webinars and the annual conference
Length of Appointment: 1 year
Commitment: 7 - 10 hours per week (approximately)
Qualifications:

Excellent English proficiency
Proven track record of leadership experience
Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to Asia-Europe affairs
An ability to lead and work in a multicultural environment

Call for 1 Treasurer
Duties and responsibilities of Treasurer:
Manage the financial administration, including annual budget planning, payments, control of income/fundings)
Coordinate the fundraising opportunities
Report the financial situations to the Executive board
Length of Appointment: 1 year
Commitment: 3-5 hours per week (approximately)
Qualifications:
Excellent English proficiency
Experience in financial management, planning, monitoring and reporting
Fundraising abilities
Previous experience as a treasurer is preferred

Call for 2 Communications Directors (CDs)
Duties and responsibilities of CDs:
Establish and monitor a multi-channel communications strategy
Prepare and manage communication materials
Manage social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Twitter
Manage website
Take charge of the outreach strategies and operations
Take charge of designs, brand identity and layout of all events and publications
Take charge of media coverage
Supervise the creation of digital, video, audio and print content
Length of Appointment: 1 year
Commitment: 5-7 hours per week (approximately)
Qualifications:
Strategic thinking appropriate to the role
Excellent English proficiency
A proven track record of leadership experience is preferred
Familiarity with social media platforms
Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with communications technologies (Design tools and website) is preferred

Duties and responsibilities of EiCs:
Take charge of peer-reviewed journals and blog articles
Supervise the review articles and manuscripts including decisions of suitability, selection of reviewers, and decisions of acceptance
Ensure consistency in publication standards
Length of Appointment: 1 year
Commitment: 5-7 hours per week (approximately)
Qualifications:
Excellent English proficiency, especially writing and editing skills
A proven track record in writing and editing
Knowledge of international affairs and/or Asia-Europe affairs
An ability to lead and work in a multicultural environment
An ability to work diplomatically with authors, editors, and reviewers
A commitment to quality, integrity and academic freedom

Coordinate the Annual conference alongside the VP for events
Oversee the planning and operations of the conference
Supervise the liaison and communication with speakers and participants
Set the general agenda and contents for the conference
Work with the Communication Portfolio to promote the conference
