Are You Ready to Join Our International Team?
Would you like to make a real impact on the discussions shaping the future of Europe and Asia? Are you keen to work with a diverse international team as part of a multinational think tank? Do you have experience working in a think tank, or are you looking to gain policy experience?
Here at STEAR, we are looking to change the future of Europe-Asia relations, and with that change the world. We recognise that young people today are expected to do more in less time than ever before. We want you to see the opportunity of working for us as more than another name on the CV, and want to help you grow as a professional and as a person- and have some fun along the way.
Of course, as part of STEAR you have the opportunity to be part of a growing and ambitious think tank, producing high quality content as the first youth Asia-Europe think tank. You get to be part of a dynamic network with young people from across the world, and to work with them on projects of your choosing. We believe in community-based and community-led learning. You won't be asked so much to participate in a project, but to innovate and to create one.
As well as the network and the experience, we are also keen to offer you a professional development program, through our unique events and our training programs.
N.B. All positions are unpaid and open to students & young professionals with a strong command of English.
Become an Editor
As an Editor, you would be responsible for overseeing the smooth running of our Editorial Office, facilitating the flow of papers through the think tank and supporting writers with their development too. You would work on a range of topics, developing existing interests and creating new ones, ensuring that each of our submissions and writers are able to reach their full potential.
Being an Editor also allows you to pitch in across the think tank - with training, with events or with the cultural side of what we do. There is no such thing as a standard editor or a standard day's work at STEAR. We are looking for innovators and go-getters, with a keen eye for Europe-Asia relations and an even stronger desire to develop and grow as part of a team.
To apply for a position as Editor, email firstname.lastname@example.org with a Curriculum Vitae, a Letter of Motivation (including your experience and motivation), and an original writing sample. Please send your email with the Subject Line 'STEAR Editor Application'.
Become a Writer
Along with our Editors and Ambassadors, our writers are responsible for much of the day-to-day work of STEAR. Writing- it's what a think tank does! As well as our ad-hoc, one-time journal policy submissions, we are looking for a team of writers to contribute monthly op-eds or columns on specific regions, specific development in Europe-Asia relations, or specific current affairs that are likely to shape these relations in the future.
As with all our positions, being a writer does not have to stop there. We are looking for contributors to our cultural programmes, volunteers for our events, and people to come up with STEAR's next big idea. As part of our community, you will have the chance to interact with some of the brightest young minds around, and to make a real and valuable input into the world of Europe-Asia relations.
To apply for a position as Writer, email email@example.com with a Curriculum Vitae, a Letter of Motivation (including your experience and motivation), and an original writing sample. Please send your email with the Subject Line 'STEAR Writer Application'.
Join the Board
Opportunities to join our board will be advertised as and when they arise on our social media and newsletter! We are looking for board members who are truly creative and dedicated, who are preparing to rip up the rulebook and develop new solutions and ideas. We are looking for those who are experienced collaborators, preferably with think tank experience, and definitely with a vision.
When opportunities arise to be part of our board, we invite you to email firstname.lastname@example.org with a Curriculum Vitae, a Letter of Motivation (including your experience and motivation), and an short summary of your goals during your time at the think tank, and the specific actions you would like to see implemented in your specific position.
Become a National Youth Representative
National Youth Representatives will take charge of representing their countries within STEAR by hosting events and contributing to the Digital Library of the think tank.
Our Youth Representatives also are responsible for the Cultural Exchange side of the think tank, so we are looking for people with a keen interest in different languages and cultures, a strong network and an enthusiasm towards the goals and aims of STEAR.
